Is it okay to move forward?
It is hard to believe we are once again on the doorstep of 9-11, and our annual fundraiser for the families of fire fighter at Engine 54.
Each year this event is hosted by Michael Stern and the kind hearts at Stonehendge Realty. This year I am honored to be teaching along side Sarah Finger from ISTHA Yoga, who will be offering a lovely guided meditation. It’s interesting how tragedy can also bring good to the world. We are honored to serve our community fire-house as well as collaborate, with not only Michael Stern, but Elena Brower of Vira Yoga last year and now of course Sarah Finger. It brings to mind a quote by Pema Chödrön:
“We think that the point is to pass the test or overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don’t really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It’s just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy. “
From the grief of 9-11 came the honor of being able to help our community and for us, as people and as a country, to come together in so many ways. Perhaps we have no choice but to let life be as it is with full acceptance of the “ grief, relief, misery and joy.”
Join us at Fire Fighters Memorial Park at 6:30pm for the 9/11 Yoga Practice.
