"If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten." -Anthony Robbins
July is the 7th month of our calendar system. It is also the 1st month of the 2nd part of the year. July 1st is the halfway point between 2011 and 2012. A halfway point is a great place to examine and reflect. Let's go back to January 2011. When you entered into this new year, where were you? What were your hopes? What were your goals for this year? Now as you are here today, the beginning of July, have you been honoring those goals? Or have those goals fallen to the wayside?
I have been participating in Paula's "Taking the Seat of Purpose" conference calls, and one thing that she mentioned on the call last month was that our goals don't happen because of some mystical intangible phenomena, but they happen through our commitment to our goals. And we commit to our goals through our actions.
No matter what the past 6 months have looked like or felt like, you have a chance right now, this month to re-commit or re-evaluate those goals and to begin taking steps and actions towards achieving them.
The beginning of July starts with both a New Moon and Solar Eclipse in the sign of Cancer. Talk about fireworks! In the USA, we celebrate Independence Day on the 4th of July. Cancer is the 4th sign of the Zodiac, depicted as the crab. Cancer represents the Mother/Nurturer archetype, and asks us to examine what makes us feel safe and secure?
The crab moves with its shell. The shell serves as a movable fort, a sense of protection and security. I ask you this July, what do you feel you need to protect? And by trying to protect whatever it is, are you disconnecting from yourself?
Cancer rules the breasts, chest, and simultaneously the heart. Are you protecting your heart or is your heart accessible?
In the book, Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior, Chogyam Trungpa writes:
The awakened heart comes from being willing to face your state of mind. It is a natural situation of fullness. The genuine heart of sadness comes from this feeling that your nonexistent heart is full. Your experience is so raw, tender, and personal that even if a tiny mosquito lands on you, you feel its touch.
This month, here are some areas perhaps where we can challenge our self to open and allow ourselves to feel and release the need to protect:
Aries: Your Home and the concept of what home means. Surrender into your living situation and be flexible with what a "home" means. Home is where the heart is.
Taurus: Community and Siblings. Be where you are at. The world is at your doorsteps, there is no where to go. Can you find the vastness right within your community? Make yourself and heart accessible to the people who surround you, and watch more and more people come.
Gemini: Personal Income and Worth. What makes YOU feel good? Allow yourself to do more of that, no matter what your income, friends or family may say. Indulge you heart.
Cancer: The Ego and sense of self. Who are you dear Cancer? Are you your mind of your heart? Most likely you know you are your heart, so why let the chitter chatter of the mind rule your choices and decisions?
Leo: The Subconscious. Pay attention to how you respond to things. Notice your response and where the response comes from. Dig deep into those patterns and beliefs that are holding your heart back from flying.
Virgo: Your Friends. Grow deeper with your friends. Reach out to those friends you care deeply about, no matter what the past has been like. Your heart does not need protecting from people, it needs connection.
Libra: Career. Are you doing what you love? Dive into what you are doing with love, and you may find that by setting an intention of love onto it, you fall in love with it.
Scorpio: The World. There is something your heart wants to explore that is deeper than the mind knows, and is beyond the eye's perception of sight. Go for it!
Sagittarius: Transformation. Contrary to your mind's beliefs, transformation does not happen by thinking and thinking about it,it happens by doing it. Feel the fear, and do it anyway.
Capricorn: Relationship and Partnership. The foundation to any healthy relationship is trust. Can you trust with you heart? If not, ask why? What in you do you not trust?
Aquarius: Health and Routine. It is time to listen to your body about what is "good" for you. Newspapers, doctors, and studies all have their own opinions and findings. But what is your finding on the right life for you?
Pisces: Fun and Romance. Fall in love! You know that you want to. You can't control it, because you can't control the heart. It's okay, bow to the heart and have fun with it.
