New Year’s has always been one of my favorite occasions. There is something special in knowing that around the world during this time, people in all different cultures and places, are embracing life anew. New Year’s inspires us to embrace the present moment and to be hopeful that change is possible. That is why January can be such a powerful month in our lives.

“The important thing is this: to be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we would become.” – Charles DuBois

Numerologically speaking, January is a “1″ month. What does that mean? January carries the energy of the number “1″. The energy of “1″ is that of leadership, initiative, and new beginnings. With a new year and a new month, this is the time to allow for the new beginnings that may have been postponed for so long.

At the start of January, Pluto and the Sun are united in force in the sign of Capricorn. In Greek mythology, Pluto was the god of the Underworld and darkness. Therefore the planet received this name because in the sky it appears so far from the sun and in darkness. While Pluto was seen as being in darkness, it was also seen as being responsible for the things we cannot see. It was seen as being responsible for for helping plants to grow, and the minerals of the Earth. Pluto is the planet of intense transformation. The Underworld literally can be thought of as the place that all things that have transitioned to death are at, and figuratively the Underworld represents a place where we store feelings, ideas and dreams that have not yet manifested into physical world. Pluto is about the cycle of birth and death.

With Pluto and the Sun within 5 degrees of each other in Capricorn, there is bound to be some transformation in your life. Are you ready to give up all that you have known in order to move on to the next stage of your life? A woman I worked with once told me, “You have to leave where you are at to get where you are going.” Are you willing to leave the comfort of where you are at to get to where you are going?

January asks us to embrace the changes in our life. Indeed life is a series of changes occurring moment by moment. Let Pluto do its work this month, as you keep breathing and being present in the moment. Know that all changes are for the Highest Healing Good!

Happy New Year! Happy New Life!
