Looking for a Great Pre/Post Natal Yoga Class
Ma Yoga classes, taught by Mia Borgatta, is the place to go. I discovered these classes only
because I teach at Lila Yoga. It is so underground that I have found Sophia Coppola and Amy Irving and a few other celebs at these very understated but wonderful classes!!
I often hear students complaning that the prenatal classes they have been taking are just a lot of rolling on the floor. Not great if you have been practicing for a while. Mia teaches a wonderful class with a great balance of sensitivity, body awareness, strength and flexibility.
I enjoyed her classes so much I took her training myself.
Reflections' Special-
Take the first class for $10.00
Single Class: $17
5 Class Card: $80 ($16/class, 7 week limit)
10 Class Card: $150 ($15/class, 12 week limit)

Its time to give back
This section will feature creative and secure ways to donate money and time to smaller organizations and grassroots projects that can use our love and support.
I recently heard about Lifebeat, The Music Industry Fight's AIDS' program called Hearts and Voices. It produces an average of 250 concerts, bringing the gift of live music to thousands of people at numerous residential and treatment facilities throughout New York City. Every week, talented musicians from all musical genres volunteer their time to play shows for the most appreciative of audiences.
Every second of every day 2 young people between the age of 13 and 24 are infected with HIV. Many New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS, routinely spend time in facilities that can serve their health needs. Most people in these facilities are not able to go out to enjoy live music and entertainment, so Hearts & Voices brings the beat of the city to them.
All of LIFEbeat's programs are facilitated by a pool of volunteers- not just performing artists, peer educators and general volunteers who bring the mission to life. November is the month to give thanks and be grateful for what we have. What better way to do that then to bring your love to others.
I always tell my students when they are feeling low or depressed, to help another. The joy it brings to your heart is priceless ..better than 10 therapy sessions!!! LIFEbeat's artist roster is diverse, and always expanding. To volunteer your talent and time or find out more about Hearts & Voices, contact Aly Panichi at 212.459.2590 x109 or
at apanichi@lifebeat.org

Hey All,
I am going to keep it short this month because there is so much great stuff to read in this month's newsletter, especially if you have anything to do with wee ones. There is great information on pre & post natal classes, reflexology for pregnancy, two beautiful articles on parenting and more!
Just a note this is the last week to register for Costa Rica. The group so far is really amazing! My two new yoga DVD's are available for purchase Nov 20th http://www.amazon.com. Just in time for stocking stuffers! Finally, if you have Wednesday mornings off for the month of November, I am teaching a really fun class at Lila Yoga on connecting to your true core. We will be playing with how to move into and out of hand balances and inversions with ease and real connection!
Have a beautiful holiday and don't forget to give thanks! Even when life seems a bit dim, there is always so much to be thankful for. We often forget to remember our successes, and spend too much valuable time thinking about our lack. So sit down and make a list of why life is good and ... give thanks!
Much Love Always,
Paula

Thought you might want to know a little bit more...
This section will offer in-depth information on different healing modalities from the healer or from people who have gone on the journey.
"She's Beautiful! Is She Yours?"
by Ioliene Boenau
This is a common question that I am asked when I am out with my daughter.
"Thank you. Yes we are a family" I reply.
"Is she adopted?"
"Yes" I say with a smile.
"She is a lucky girl"
Actually I am the lucky one!!!!
I consider myself very fortunate to be the proud mother of a beautiful baby girl who came into my life through adoption from Guatemala. I have always wanted a family but somehow the time just never seemed right. Last year I decided that there would not be a better time so I began looking at my options for starting a family. I remember the day I made my first phone call to the adoption agency. I felt an immediate connection with the social worker and the agency. I followed my instincts and started the process. This has turned out to be the best decision I have ever made.
The adoption process may take somewhere between 1 and 3 years, however it seems like an eternity when you are going through it. I explored several different options and countries and decided that Guatemala was the one that felt right for me.
Next came mountains of paperwork, background checks, writing an autobiography and the home visit by the social worker. Despite the reassurance of my social worker I was a nervous wreck about the visit. It was as if I was preparing for a visit from my entire family (including in-laws) and the Dalai Lama!
From Supernova to Amelí! A Father's Perspective
by Peter Kaaberbol
In life I believe that existence is an overflow of creative energies,
continuously developing it self.
During the last year I have experienced this in a new dimension. My amazing
wife Alicia, gave birth to my precious baby girl Amelí.
Where this new life came from I have no idea, but what it brought
with it I am beginning to learn, to some extend.

Raw Kale Pesto with Quinoa
A wonderful friend Billy from www.infinitygreens.com invited me to a dinner party. Much to my surprise, (and delight!) it was a very health conscious evening that included a meal that I would have maybe never tried had it not been my only option. This recipe is so tasty and so very good for you and extremely easy to make! Please give it a try and experiment with different added veggies on your own!
Ingredients for four people:
tomatoes (about 2 medium size)
garlic (a few or more if you like it garlicky!)
juice of 4 lemons
2 heaping tablespoons Coconut Oil
(olive oil can be used if preferred)
quinoa (1 cup to 3 cups water is usually enough for 3-4 people with no leftovers)
sweet potato, broccoli, edamame or any vegetable you wish to add. i would go for sweet potato or two (cut into cubes)!
full bunch of fresh kale
curry powder
fresh basil or fresh mint (i prefer mint)
sea salt to taste
Preparation:
1. chop tomatoes and garlic in blender and put in medium saucepan
2. add quinoa and water
3. boil on low until water is half gone then add vegetable
4. once the water is gone add a dollop of coconut oil and tablespoon of curry powder (or more if you wish)
5. chop kale first then put in blender or use food processor
add lemon juice, mint and oil
6. put mixture over quinoa mixture and enjoy with a glass of sparkling pear "champagne"!
just to be clear... you will wind up with a big bowl of mush topped off with green mush. but trust me...it's SO YUMMY and I know you will LOVE it!
